University of Illinois

The Inter-Campus Communications Network (ICCN) is a University-owned and managed fiber optical network connecting the three University of Illinois campuses to each other, to commodity Internet and to research entities, like Internet2 and ESnet.

The ICCN is a DWDM ring connecting sites in Champaign-Urbana, Springfield, Peoria, Bloomington, and Chicago.  The ring consists of ~600 miles of fiber and supports up to 96 optical channels with most production services at 100Gbps.  The ICCN also has dedicated wavelengths at 100 and 200Gbps providing connectivity to research networks and peers.  The ICCN operations team provides support for University business as well as transport for other educational entities across the state.
